The new Deputy Minister for Investment and Deputy Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Yuliot Tanjung, said that one of his priorities will be to accelerate investment in Nusantara Capital City (IKN).
“IKN is a priority, and the government has been preparing the infrastructure for the central government area,” he said after being inducted by President Joko Widodo at the State Palace in Jakarta on Thursday.
Along with the central government area in IKN, other clusters require multiple investor participations, he said.
“To increase investment in these clusters, we will also encourage the establishment of an economic zone and financial center area. These are the future targets,” he stated.
He said that the Ministry of Investment will coordinate with the Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) to accelerate investment in IKN.
Data from the ministry shows that at least 400 letters of intent for investment in IKN have been received from investors.
“From the current data, letters of intent for investment have exceeded 400, but we have a priority to prepare the KIPP first,” he said, referring to the Central Government Core Area in IKN.
He said that after the KIPP is ready, his ministry will encourage the distribution of investment in the existing clusters.
He further said that during his term in office, he will ensure to achieve the investment targets set by the Joko Widodo-Ma’ruf Amin administration.
The downstreaming program must also be continued by the next government, he added.
“We will strive to achieve the investment and economic growth targets until the end of this administration,” he remarked.
He said that he will ensure that investment activities, especially under the strategic downstreaming program, can continue to run under the next government.
